Today I did my first non stress test. I went to the hospital after I dropped Malia off at school and was monitored for about an hour and a half. They were looking for baby boys heart rate to spike three times in a 20 minute period coenciding with movement. He passed perfectly ... and it was nice to listen to him. He is so active and feels really healthy. I am so greatful! The nurse was awesome .. she sat with me the whole time chatting. I wanted to know what to expect with a a normal c section. And she told me the play by play and boy is that different from what I went through with Malia. It will be so amazing to have a normal birthing expirience. They said they will get baby boy right on the boob .. as long as nothing is wrong with him. And i will see him right away and they will weigh and measure and clean him right there with me. I could go on and on about how different Malia's birth was. I am really looking forward to meeting our son. I am so greateful for my doc. Weiderman really is the best OB in Humboldt in my opionion. The nurse said I will be doing the NST twice a week soon and doc once a week and ultrasounds once to twice a week .. whoa! Thats pretty crazy. I better make some progress on baby's room soon. Ive still be working and finishing a website and now taxes. So much to do.
I have my baby shower this weekend .. my mom is coming! so excited to spend time with her and see my friends .. its been too long.

30 Week Doc Appointment
Little update ... today I went to the doc for my 30 week appointment and it was a great appointment. My bp's haven't been too bad ... better than last weeks appointment. and I gained the pound he wanted me too. Next week I will start weekly non stress tests ... which mean I go to the hospital once a week for and hour and a half and have the baby monitored for a half hour to see how the baby is doing every week for the remainder of the pregnancy. My next ultrasound is Feb1st at 32 weeks and that's when my next doc appointment is too. Then I will go to the doc once a week and do the non stress tests once a week.
As of today my c section date is Monday March 21st (Selena's birthday), but if my bp's become an issue the date will be the Monday before March 14th. He suspects they will become an issue, but if we are judging by how im doing today .. which is great .. then its the 21st.
If I start having contractions anytime before those dates, I have to go straight in and have a c section so my uterus doesn't rupture.
Emotionally Im feeling a lot better .. not irritable ... and happy.
That's all for now!

Today was a better day
Pregnancy hormones are weird .. is it just me? Seriously ... I watch tv and cry at anything remotely emotional. One minute i am super irritable and the next I am happy and content. I am editing my last wedding of 2010 and I could not be done soon enough .. I am so ready to have all the weight of my work life lifted. Its been very stressful having so much editing and no money to show for it. Right now I am looking for the prefect nursing attire and newborn outfit for baby boy to come home in. Do i go preemie or newborn .. how do I know? I cant wait to be past 34 weeks and breathe a huge sigh of relief that we are past the worries of going to San Francisco. Morgan and I are tripping out that we are actually pregnant and about to have another child. The last 5 years took a pretty big toll on us .. and here we go again. Being a parent is the best thing ever ... there is nothing more worthwhile and no greater love a person can feel ... but its a marathon .. at least it has been with Malia. Please god give me a good sleeper! But we shall survive whatever this new adventure brings. I cant believe this is happening .. I think I need to pinch myself.
I have another doc appointment tomorrow ... my bp's have been higher than they were but not crazy .. but not great ... so we shall see what he says. Im sure ive gained weight now .. Ive been enjoying ice cream every day .. bad bad ..

29 Week Doc Appointment
So all is well ... today i got the results from the second gestational diabetes test and all 4 of the numbers came back normal (one from each blood draw) and you only need two of the numbers to come back low to pass for normal. But my blood pressure was 138/85 - so he thinks I will be on meds for BP it before this is over. He wants me to be checking my BP every day and come back in a week instead of two weeks. I got a little lax on doing my BP at home because I was feeling a little too confident i guess. Darn it ... always something to worry about.
He thinks we will deliver at 38 weeks. Which is March 14th or maybe the 13th for a c-section.
I asked him when we are cleared from being sent to the city and he said:

I asked him when we are cleared from being sent to the city and he said:
Under 32 weeks - both baby and mom deliver at UCSF
32 to 34 weeks - Mom may deliver here but baby goes to UCSF
35 weeks - Both baby and mom stay here - usually
My weight was the same - no gain - for the last several weeks. I was all proud of myself and he was not so happy and said I must be gaining .. he wants a pound a week at the very least. I was a little disappointed to hear that because I thought since I already have fat that I would not have to gain. but I guess I do.
He said no more low carb ... not to go high carb .. but no more low carb. But all the walking ive been doing is good .. yay!
Feeling like we need to get the baby's room rolling ... time is moving a little too fast!

28 Weeks!
So much has happened since my last post. First of all we celebrated New Years Eve by passing the milestone of 27 weeks and 4 days of when Malia was born. That was a wonderful feeling to pass that day and feel confident that history is not going to repeat itself. We started this week out with our 28 week ultrasound. We found out that baby boy is progressing perfectly, even measuring a week ahead of schedule. He is now a whopping 2 pounds, 7 ounces! That is a full pound larger than Malia at birth and almost her size when she came home from the NICU. Which is amazing to me. I am so baffled that Malia came through it all so perfectly ... I look at her and remember all these memories of her in the hospital and how tiny she was and how hard she fought to breathe and eat. How hard it was for my body to produce milk with her coming so early and my body just not being ready and how much I struggled to give her every drop of breast milk for more than a year. I just cant believe it all turned out ok and she is so perfect at 5 years old. My beautiful girl is very happy to be a big sister, she talks to my belly every day if not several times a day. Usually saying "Hi baby, how ya doing in there? Are you warm? Are you happy? Do you like your food? I'm your big sister and I'm going to teach you everything." This is a very sweet time, I'm almost actually enjoying this :) Being pregnant is not my favorite thing but now I'm experiencing things Ive never experienced before. Baby boy moves a lot, his kicks are strong ... you can see my belly rise and fall with them. Morgan and Malia put there hands on my belly often to feel him kicking all the time now. Last night Morgan was feeling him and his kicks were so hard Morgan's hands were rising and falling with them. I can feel he is a strong healthy boy. I never felt Malia barely at all. So there are things about this pregnancy that are really fun. In our ultrasound baby boy looked like a baby in there, you could tell he has added fat to his bones and he was drinking water .. we got to see him opening and closing his mouth over and over .. truly amazing.
I had my RH negative shot in my butt his week and a total of six blood draws to check my glucose. Im eating very low sugar and carb so hopefully all is well. We dont find out the results until next Monday.
